MySQLicious 1.2
August 9th, 2006 • MySQLicious
MySQLicious 1.2 has been posted. It’s pretty much a required update due to the new del.icio.us API address. The new API also seems to fix some wonkiness that MySQLicious used to exhibit where it would occasionally delete all bookmarks in the local store or incorrectly grab all bookmarks even though a specific tag was specified. There’s also an XML logging option that’s turned out to be unnecessary so far, but it’s there just in case.
It’s a drop-in upgrade, so update today for maximum MySQLiciousness.

Hello,
I upgraded to the new mysqlicious (1.2) after delicious changed the API address. It has the same configuration as before, but now when I execute it, I get the following:rnrndel.icio.us API Error:
It doesn't say anything else, or what error it is. I'm not sure if this is known issue, but I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
I'm running it at:

Adam, I just want to thank you for creating MySQLicious. I've been using it on my site now for a couple months, and it's working perfectly!

When I run mirrorlog.php, I get the following error:
"del.icio.us API Error:"
Please advise.

I contacted Oscar who commented previously about the same error I was getting. Oscar was able to help me out by suggesting that CURL might not be compiled properly. While I do have CURL compiled with SSL, it is not compiled with zlib (though zlib is enabled on the server).
The server with this configuration doesn't work:
libcurl 7.9.5 (OpenSSL 0.9.6b) (ipv6 enabled)
The server with this configuration does work:
libcurl/7.13.2 OpenSSL/0.9.7e zlib/1.2.2 libidn/0.5.13.
Looks like I need to upgrade CURL to get this working on the machine of my choice!

Many thanks for this script, it has been very very useful.
I have been having trouble tracking down character encoding issues though. Things start to go haywire when the script encounters accented characters. I have made sure that the MYSQL table and fields were set to UTF-8. I have also tried modifying the script to specify UTF-8 encoding within the XML parser. The problems are occuring within multiple installs of the software. Any thoughts?

Just as an added note. If you're running on Ubuntu Gutsy and you keep receiving the del.icio.us API Error check to see if you have ca-certificates installed.
This error was driving me crazy as mysqlicious worked on one server and not the other. Finally narrowed it down to ca-certificates not being installed.
