Won’t Let You Slip Away

May 1st, 2005Music

First of all, there are still three artists left on the favorites list that no one has guessed. Here are some hints:

  • Two of the songs come last on their respective albums.
  • The remaining song is the sixth track on its album.
  • One song has the word “Party” in its title.
  • Another has the word “Home” in its title.
  • The third has a one-word title and no distinct words in the song itself. It also has plenty of ocean sounds.

Now with a little thought and perhaps some detective work, I expect someone should be able to figure these out. Once the list is completely filled out, I’ll consider posting a few of the less well known tracks… but that depends on people completing it. ;-)

As motivation, here’s a song that I’ve been loving recently. I first heard a snippet of this track sometime last year and I’ve been searching for the full version ever since. Finally in April I found it.

It’s by Mohito, who I had never heard of before. They’ve taken Howard Jones’ vocal hook from Like To Get To Know You Well and wrapped it in a lovely piece of poppy house. Then dba got a hold of it and tranced the hell out of it.

The dba mix doesn’t sound like anything too special until about 3:45 when the oh-so-nice synths start coming in. From then on out, it’s pretty phenomenal.

Mohito - Slip Away (dba Trance Mix)

The Decemberists - The Engine Driver

    Now it's too easy:

    Daft Punk - Nightvision
Basement Jaxx - Feels Like Home
    Starflyer 59 - The Party

Thanks for the OBVIOUS hints :)

Only… the Daft Punk is wrong. Try a different album. Also, Courtney posted the correct Jaxx and Starflyer on the old entry before you did.

    Try again quick! :-D

Ryan, thank you for getting that final Daft Punk track. That one item left in bold was driving me crazy! :-)
