It’s So New That People Go Mad for It
October 11th, 2004 • Geeking Out / Software
After a lot HTML/CSS/ExpressionEngine/PHP hacking, my boyfriend’s new site design is up. I’m quite happy with how it came out.
ExpressionEngine is a pretty cool system, and Bryan is bugging me about creating a LiveJournal cross-post module. We’ll see if that happens.
At work, I spent all day with my head buried in an Access database, learning way more than I ever wanted to know about the limitations of grouping and sorting in reports and create table queries. I have such a love/hate relationship with programming for Access… on the one hand it’s possible to do some very cool and powerful things, but there are also some insanely stupid walls that I run into. I’ll probably be able to wrap up work on it tomorrow.
Courtney is coming to visit on Friday, which will be fun. I like having people visit. All people should visit me.

You know you're making the module and the plugin for my extra spaces….don't even pretend you're not!

Way to lay the smackdown Bryan. Adam sometimes just needs to be reminded who's boss.

I'm almost done with my xml-rpc LJ class. I'm sure you could quite easily use the post functionality of that. Of course, grabbing the comments would take more work, but you can do that, I'm sure.
Access programming is utterly useless. I vote ODBC'ing it and writing your own stuff in .NET &/or PHP. Just use RAW sql…heck….dump access entirely…use mysql…or postgres…..or ……..angelic "ahhhh" ORACLE /angelic ahhh
;P

Well, if it had anything to do with web pages or anything like that, I definitely wouldn't be using Access. But it's printing out barcodes. The graphical report creating tools are quite handy. And yet frustrating. :-)

Wow, I've stumbled into GeekWar 2004 ™.
That aside, I thought I was coming to visit on Thursday? (albeit late) It's a good thing - I was about to forget what you look like since you haven't updated your webcam in so long. :-P
Can't wait for an Ohio funado! :-)
