Sorry about the lack of updatage. I had a good weekend hanging out in the Tidewater region with Courtney, Lara, Michael, et. al. There was Friday’s, shopping, MST3k, and tricky, it’s tricky, this trick’s gonna rock gonna rock it’s tricky (please someone get it out of my head). Quite the good time, even without Dan, who for some reason stayed home to, of all things, be with his wife. Where are his priorities?
PS - Be sure to read the quote below… it’s a good one.

Comics and foxes and misc, oh my! (Random jank I’ve been surfing lately.)
her! [girl vs. pig] … sometimes deep but mostly strange. Ones I liked:
her president!
her darkness!
her plot!

Death to the Extremist is definitely special. Circle 1 and 2 talk to each other. I didn’t read all > 200 episodes, but episode 2 really makes me laugh. (Comic links via web zen).
And I know I’m way late on the bandwagon, but Firefox 0.8 came out last week. I probably wouldn’t like the new name if it wern’t for the amazingly beautiful new icon. More on the new visual identity team over at MozillaZine.
Marc-Anthony’s entries frequently make my day, especially his Instructions for watching M-A’s apartment. Freaking hilarious stuff.
Xander pointed me to Best pictures of 2003… so pretty. If only they were higher res.
Have fun on your trip around the web, but remember not to flip the light switch of total devastation!

Things are going well with Bryan, and I’m really glad to have him. He makes me smile, kind of like this does. Only more.

Now, you’re probably cringing about a Valentines Day entry (especially those of you who are single), but don’t worry, I’m going to try not to be too mushy. ;-) Today just seems like an appropriate time to say how great my Bryan is and how much he means to me. When I first started talking to him last July, I knew right away the he was a special person. He’s one of the sweetest and most caring people I’ve ever known, and that I can now call him mine is incredible and makes me very thankful. I know that whatever the future holds, there will always be a special bond between us. As usual, explodingdog says it best. I love you Bryan.

Yes, I know this paper was due nearly a week ago. But… a virus ate it! Oh, right, yes, I do have a Mac. Sorry. Erm, then would you believe a hedgehog? No, no, I guess not. Well, here’s the paper…
Last Saturday night was the OK Go concert. Spiraling was the first opener, and they were pretty good. It was especially fun that they covered Whip It by Devo. Next came Army of Me, who nobody else in our group enjoyed, but I rather liked. First of all, they have the same name as a Björk song, so they get cool points right away for that. The lead singer did come across as rather pretentious and full of himself, but I find that more entertaining than annoying. What really sold me on them was when they whipped out Big Mouth Strikes Again by The Smiths. It was an amazing cover, though sadly, Courtney and I were two of the few singing along.
Finally, OK Go took the stage. So much energy… it would have been hard not to have a good time. They played some new stuff as well as songs from their EPs and debut album. Since it seemed to be 80s cover night, their song of choice was Hold The Line by Toto. As non-RYANHARNE.COM Ryan has mentioned in the past, OK Go does a great job of totally rocking the cover.
As if the amazing rock show wasn’t enough, instead of a normal encore, OK Go performed a choreographed boy-band dance to C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips. It was definitely the best encore ever.
If you ever get the chance to see OK Go, I highly recommend going for it. The show was so much fun (though I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with the insane drunk girls who kept bothering Bryan).
Wasn’t that a good story? What? Only a D-? Yes, I’ll make sure I turn things in on time in the future.

What happens when crazy artistic types come together with, um, me? Things like visual numbers, which translates numbers to their chosen color counterparts. Go play with it and have fun! I’m so 1337.

Right now, it’s icing outside, and the world is surreal with crystalline beauty. It’s so pretty that I can even forgive the weather’s spoiling of my plans to go hang with my parents for the evening. Instead, I stayed near home and helped make delicious homemade pizza (some of which is sitting in the my fridge waiting to be consumed later). We also watched Waking Life, which I adore. Even though this was my third viewing, I feel like I have yet to absorb its fullness.
This weekend is going to be so damn hot. Ryan, Abigail, and Bryan are coming to town tomorrow and then Saturday them + Courtney + I are going to see OK Go in DC! Hopefully we don’t get iced too badly and everyone can make the trip.
There is excitement, there is ice, and there is need for sleep.

I have that fortune cookie saying pinned to the wall of my office. That phrase has come to mind on several recent occasions. The most significant of those concerns the changes that have happened in one of my relationships.
After he visited a few weeks ago, Bryan told me that he would like to have more than a friendship with me. At the time, I felt that I was anything but ready to date anyone, so I told him no, not yet. However, as I’ve worked through things and done a lot of self-discovery, I’ve come to a point where I’m just about ready to give this dating thing a try.
So very soon, I’m probably going to have a boyfriend! How crazy is that? I’m excited… and scared, but mostly happily excited. Bryan is an amazing guy and I’m thankful for all his patience and understanding as I’ve worked through all my fears and feelings.
This will be the first time I’ve ever dated anyone, and maybe I’m insane to have my first relationship be a long-distance one… but things between us feel so right that I can’t let the 6ish hours between us kill it. Thanks to everyone who has kicked me in the butt and encouraged me not to give in to my fears. There’s a long way to go and a lot to figure out, but the first steps are being taken…
