Since I’m sitting here bored and frustrated as I try to get the MacOS 9 (ugh) machine I’m working on to stop crashing constantly, I guess I’ll write something. Experiences like this one simply serve to solidify my loathing for the Classic MacOS. Though I totally <3 OS X, anything prior is just painful for me.
Time for a bit of a recap… Saturday was lots of fun. I played the ladies’ man as I went to Charlottesville with Jenni, Courtney, and Lynley. The main purpose of the trip was to get Jenni’s headboard from Under The Roof. We managed to totally not anticipate there being a UVA game that day, which made finding a parking spot a little challenging. Once we did (and right by the store), we got to check out some cool furniture. Then we had a delicious lunch at Cafe Europa. Of course, it’s impossible to go on a trip without some other shopping and between Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap, I managed to pick up some nice new clothes. Go me. (The current webcam shot is of one of the sweaters… me wearing the sweater that is).
Then yesterday I was teh productiveness. Not only did I mow the jungle that we were calling a yard, I also finally went food shopping. I’m not sure why I’m so proud of myself for this, but I am.
Oh, look, it’s 7:30 and I’m finally done with this lovely piece of Mac history. Except for the part where the Novell login screen takes forever to come up now. Ugh. Screw it, I’m going home.

First, music. Army of Robots is not only a great name for a band, they make great music. Gold Star is one of my favorites from them.
The other day, I ran across OverClocked ReMix. They host remixes of video game music. I haven’t actually listened to enough tracks to decide if I think it’s worth spending much time there, but it seems entertaining enough.
Today, I added a couple blogs to my list on the homepage. Chris and Jessy are both very entertaining reads and thoroughly worth your time. Did you like how I made that decision for you? You’ll thank me when you’re older.
Because I know he’d appreciate it, here’s a some linkage to my roommate Steve’s site. There are even some pictures of me there. Yeah, I thought that would get you to go.
Finally, some humor. Stealth Disco is completely hilarious. Go click on "Best Of," and after you watch that, click on "Bageldonut." I’m still laughing about bageldonut.
Heh… bageldonut.
And a big hug to Ney who isn’t feeling well right now. *Waves feel-better wand*

Seriously. Today, on IM, I wrote "your" when I meant to type "you’re." For someone as anal about apostrophe use as I am, that is the cardinal sin. I’m not sure I can ever be forgiven. ::sob::

A recent conversation with Jeremiah made me do some reflecting on my thought processes and methods of interacting with others. I recognized with new clarity some aspects of my personality. One distinction was how much I tend to live my life intuitively, as opposed to following logic or rational thought. Not to say that I’m irrational, but I recognized that I more often follow my gut feelings than I take time to think through all aspects of a decision or issue. I have yet to determine if this is something I want to change. Right now it’s at the "oh, that’s interesting" stage.
Another realization was that one of the reasons I avoid making definite stands on many issues or having strong opinions is a desire to be liked and to fit in. What I feel deep down (whether it’s completely valid or not I don’t know) is that having opinions makes other people not like you. It really bothers me when someone is mad it me or doesn’t like me for whatever reason.
I haven’t had any great eurekas concerning what, if anything, to do about what I have observed. However, I feel that by recognizing these things, I have accomplished something. Or other.
This entry about my personality quirks is particularly appropriate given the Personality Disorder Test that has been circulating around LiveJournal recently. (For the record, I got moderate ratings on schizotypal and histronic behavior and low on everything else… maybe I’m not so much of a freak as I thought I was ;-).

Around 1pm, Martha IM’d me to let me know that Ben was coming to visit for the afternoon. It had been about two years, maybe more, since I had last seen him, so I put away my previous plans and ended up spending time with those two. The afternoon was fun, and it was really great to see Ben again. I even got a webcam shot with him and Martha in it. Check it out.
On a completely unrelated note, I found out yesterday that the boys from Paradigm Shift (a "trip house" duo who has only released one album to date) are still around and producing music. They have released some tracks on their new site, wrightandreyes.com. Definitely go download Antigravity, it’s a quality track.

Yesterday we were 100% power free because of Isabel. I have two songs in my library called Isobel, one by Björk, and the other by Dido… but none called Isabel. I felt so unprepared to welcome Isabel. If only the hurricane naming people would have changed that one vowel. I wonder if there’s one guy who gets to decide hurricane names. "What do you do, Bob?" "Well, I name the hurricanes." That would be fun… if it were up to me, I would have named this one Isobel, because then I would have been able to welcome her with two songs, and maybe my street wouldn’t have lost power. I’m going to go talk to Bob. Next time, I’ll make sure this isn’t an issue.
The really odd thing about it us losing power is that 95% of the city had power, but not my street. My candles served me well, both last night and while getting ready this morning. It’s a good thing I had candles… and my iPod also made a spiffy temporary flashlight.
Work today was 76% more relaxed than yesterday due to the canceling of classes. Lots of people didn’t come in, so we got to have a nice quiet day without many interruptions. I’ll thank Isabel for that. Thank you Isabel.
I went with Jenni and David to see Underworld tonight. When we got into the theater, we found it to be about 30% hotter than we expected, since the AC was out. After waiting half an hour for the next showing in a much cooler theater, we got to enjoy the film. I found it to be a fairly fun and stylish movie, if perhaps lacking in substance. I really wish we had been going to see this Underworld instead. :-)
This entry has 25% less content generated by me! Let the link mooching commence… The latest works is a spiffy series of visual illusions (courtesy of Dooce). And this flash cartoon about Mario is funny (thanks to Nick for the laugh).
Now that I have 110% overdone the percentage gimmick, I’m just going to mention that the listening links on the nanovivid.com homepage have been rotated. I think it’s about time to get a few percent more sleep than last night.

The beach trip this past weekend was wonderful fun, but it almost didn’t happen. Before we got very far down the road, there was a phone call to the effect that due to some miscommunication, we weren’t going to have lodging in Nag’s Head. However, after a couple phone calls, new arrangements had been discovered. Instead of staying at Courtney and Lynley’s grandfather’s place, he was going to rent a beach house for the four of us (the fourth being Dan). Not only that, he also paid for dinner at Cheddar’s that night. The trip was basically only possible because of his generosity. Many thanks to him.
That night, we arrived at the beach house and got settled in. Then Saturday, we headed to the beach. The weather was exquisite. We did some beach walking and sand playing, and then absorbed some radiation by the pool. It was all wonderfully relaxing.
Saturday was also Dan’s birthday. Happy one year older day to him!
On Sunday, we did some shopping… I think it’s impossible for me to go on a trip without buying something. Then it was time to head home, with a stop at Cheddar’s along the way (of course).
The weekend was delectably beachalicious in every way. :-)

I’m back from the beach, but I’m pretty tired so a full update will have to wait. It was great fun though, and the weather was amazing. :-)
