So it seems that I’ve gotten cross-posting between my journal here and LiveJournal working. Wheee!

Sometimes the things you fear the most turn out the be some of the best things too. Yeah I know that’s vague. Deal with it.

Signs of a Grass Revolt

I’m pretty sure that the grass doesn’t want to be cut. Yesterday when I was all ready to mow, it started raining. Then today, the grass had sabotaged the mower. They tell me that the people who live upstairs actually probably broke it, but I don’t believe them. It’s definitely the grass. And I’m scared.

Today I discovered a cool utility for OS X. Ittec gives OS X context menu folder browsing à la BeOS. Only it’s even better than the BeOS Tracker’s menus, because you can actually delete, move, and copy files. It’s pretty cool.

Um, there’s not much else to write about. I’m happy that the new iPod software took care of the clicking between tracks. Yep.

Watch out for the grass, ok?

I get all set to mow, and then I look out the window and it’s POURING down rain. Grrr.

Mamma Jammas Anonymous

Tonya came to visit last night and we went to Dave’s and had our traditional Athenian pizza (it’s chicken, roasted peppers, and tomatoes, for those not in the know). As always, it was über-good times. Tonya is definitely one of the most fun people ever. During dinner, for some reason I called her a bad mamma jamma. She was very entertained by this and when we got back I decided to see what Google had to say on the subject. A few links down we found this article called Dear Bad Mamma Jamma. It’s completely hilarious. Read it. Love it.

Breathe the Fat Fumes

Tonight Jenni had a cookout at her place, which was way fun. There were burgers, drinks, good people, trashy tv, and Mattt’s new piercing.

I totally heart this new Slyder song. It’s got such a great 80s-ish vibe to it. I’ve listened to it about 15 times today. Tasty.

Nanofad

According to Wired, "Nano" is suddenly really popular (thanks to Jeremiah for the linkage). And to think I’ve been nanovivid for years now. I’m so far ahead of the times. Muahaha.

Though I’m totally in love with Safari on my PowerBook, when I’m using Windows, Mozilla Firebird is my browser of choice. I recently updated to the latest nightly and reinstalled Tabbrowser Extensions. It seems that there have been some nifty improvements in TBE since I last upgraded, one of the most interesting being progress bars in the tabs. So instead of just seeing a little "page loading" icon, there is now a bar showing how much of the page is loaded. Cool. I also discovered how to duplicate Safari’s behavior of opening links from other applications in a new tab. Now if only Safari will get Find As You Type, I’ll be a happy camper. Heh… safari… camper… I crack me up.

I’m having a good hair day today. That makes me happy.

Another Drivealicious Day

June 15th, 2003Friends / Geeking Out / Movies / TravelComments?

This has been yet another driving-filled Saturday, though not quite as much as last Sat’s trip to PA. The server problem wasn’t as bad as I had thought (thankfully). Once I replaced the power supply, everything was fine. Since the computer equipment there is all between four and seven years old, they’re going to be doing some major purchasing soon. I’m happy about that. Goodbye NT 4.

After dinner, I went to the dollar theater with Ryan and Jeremiah and saw The Core. It was absolutely horrible, thus very entertaining. It was all so wonderfully unencumbered by any sort of a good plot or interesting characters. If MST3k was still around and did big movies, The Core would be a perfect candidate.

Post-movie, we went to the B&N Starbuck’s and had Frappuccinos. While hanging out there, we read from Zobmondo - Would You Rather… which sets forth ridiculous scenarios like: Would you rather … Live in a world where you needed a quarter to get into every bathroom (including the one in your home) -OR- where every bathroom only had one square of tissue? That provided much entertainment.

Then it was driving-back-home time, which could have been driving-to-my-parents’ time, but due to a series of adam-not-thinking-things-through, I didn’t have the stuff I needed to spend the night. So I’m home now.

Sweet Recap Action

June 13th, 2003Links / Movies / Music / News1 Comment

I’ve done a not so good job of updating this week, so this is going to be a bit of a long entry. Overall, the week has been good, though a bit stressful up until yesterday. I’m mostly finished with the programming part of the project I’ve been working on, so now what’s left is the making-it-look-pretty part. Having that done is a good bit of stress off me.

the run

I decided to drive the path I ran during my accidentally long run to find out how far I went. And the total is: about ten miles. I probably ran seven to eight of that. Woohoo. I guess.

the distractions

I’ve been watching a lot of movies and stuff lately. This week I’ve watched The Animatrix, Unbreakable, The Usual Suspects, and parts of The Recruit (all for the first time). I enjoyed the first three more than the last, though that could partially be because I missed about half an hour of The Recruit. I don’t feel like reviewing any of them though. But I will if you ask real nice like.

the music

Recent iTunes Music Store purchases:

  • Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows
  • Matchbox Twenty - Unwell (Live Acoustic)
  • Haddaway - What Is Love (I love cheesy dance pop :-).
  • Eagle-Eye Cherry - Save Tonight
  • Oasis - Acquiesce (Live)

The iTMS really does rock. And it’s definitely bad for a music junkie like yours truly. Which is why I love it.

the linkage

For some entertainment, go check out Toby’s site. Not only does he have a great url, he’s frickin’ hilarious (and hot).

If you haven’t seen the video to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Can’t Stop, you need to go watch it. Because it’s cool like woah.

the conclusion

Wow, you made it all the way through? I’m so proud of you! After my trip tomorrow I should have some great (read: painful) Windows NT 4 stories. Wheee.
