Take Me Out Tonight

May 31st, 2003Friends / Introspection / MusicComments?

Today has been eating-out-alicious. Late breakfast with Jenni and Work Andy (to differentiate him from the other two Andys I know) at the Little Grill, then lunch with Tonya at Dave’s, and after-dinner desert at Kline’s (mmmm… mint chocolate chip).

After Kline’s, we went back to Ney’s place and watched Strong Bad Emails for a while because Jordan hadn’t seen many of them. Then Jordan had to leave :’( and we switched gears and watched Chocolat.

Dave, you were right, I liked it. :-) It’s definitely a feel-good movie and quite a flawed one at that, but I enjoyed it and wasn’t at all bored. The priest’s speech at the end about defining our lives by what we embrace rather than by what we reject hit home for me. That’s definitely something I’ve been learning.

I don’t guess I’ve got much else to say at the moment. It’s been a good day.

Julie might be coming to visit this summer! Wheeeee!

I’m going to bed. Really, I am.

Another Night, Another Dream

Dream of sleep that is. Because despite my best intentions, I’m not in bed yet. Again, it was worth it though. Talking to Tonya, Ney, and Jeremiah is way more importanter than sleep. (Awwww). But now it is sleep time.

Interstella 5555!

Around the time that Daft Punk’s Discovery album came out, several anime style videos were released to go along with it. It seemed that these videos tied together to tell a story… but only the first four were released. Today I found out about Interstella 5555 - the 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. It is the completion of that series of videos. The flyer for Insterstella 5555 bills it as The animated House Musical. Cooool. Apparently it’s coming out May 28 in Europe… hopefully it gets over here at least on DVD soon!

These astronomy pictures are AMAZING. And high-res. Thank you Travis Rector! (And Asa for linking it)

I need to go food shopping in a bad way. Leftover pizza and bruchetta for dinner, anyone? Sorry, you can’t have any. It’s mine. Going out to eat a lot over the weekend didn’t help motivate me to go shopping. So tonight’s projects are shopping and laundry. Both need doing. And I want to run. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to encourage that.

Go With the Sun

This weekend was so much fun… I’m not even sure it’s legal to have as much fun as we did. Yesterday was Bob Evans breakfast, hiking with LJ and Dan, cookout at Dawn and Mark’s, and TS. Then as if that wasn’t enough, after we got back, Dan and I sat in the car for several hours talking. I loves me some Dan talkin’. Thanks for sharing him, Lynley. :-)

Talking with Dan made me revisit issues of spirituality and the question of where I am with faith. I guess right now I have some vague ideas about God, but not much of anything concrete. It’s sort of like I’m living with the rubble of everything that has fallen down, and I’m ok with that. I often find it easier right now to recognize statements others make as either working or not working with my feelings about spirituality than to delineate a theology. So I’m in quite a vague place, but it’s a place I’m ok with.

Tonight we watched Waiting For Guffman. Quite funny, as expected. Yay Christopher Guest movies!

My dba cds got here today! Yummy yummy stuff. You can check out some of their stuff on the mp3 page of the site. Qualityness.

I’m going to try to get some sleep after staying up way late with Dan last night. Staying up late is killer but so worth it. :-)

The Restart

So yesterday when we were going to play Super Smash Brothers, a message came up that we didn’t know what it said because it was in Japanese because Andy’s SSB is Japanese and Dan just hit yes (I guess it said yes) and the memory card got erased. Well, that memory card was my freaking Zelda game. So I’m starting from the beginning. Grrr. Dan, step into my office.

At least breakfast was tasty. And we might be going hiking. That would be fun.

Oh boy, back at the start of Wind Waker. And again I say grrr.

Tonight was way fun… well, as a matter of fact all of today was fun. This afternoon, Dan came over while I was weeding the edge of the driveway and the little garden thing and helped me with that. Then we played a little Super Smash Brothers Melee and then went running. Here’s hoping that the two days in a row of exercise will help get me out of my lazy streak.

After showering, I went over to Lynley and Dan’s for dinner (yummy ravioli) and then we met Courtney and Brittany at Calhoun’s. I had some delicious bruchetta and "Downtown Amber" which was also quite tasty. We hung out there for a couple hours and then went to Wal-Mart to get hair dye for Lynely and Ney to use.

Back at LJ and Dan’s, the girls did their hair and Dan and I hung out downstairs and talked. We need to do that more often. Talking with Dan is always a highlight.

Then there was Scrabble playing and drink drinking and more good times. That’s what the subject is from. It’s a word I invented during Scrabble. It makes me laugh, and I have no idea what it means.

Such a great day. My friends are good people. :-)

Something I somehow forgot to mention in my last entry… during Trading Spaces last night, Vern made a design decision that we majorly disagreed with! This is unheard of. We (me and everyone I watch TS with) almost always love everything Vern does. But in this particular episode, the kitchen he did had these gorgeous red walls and he PAINTED OVER THEM. WITH OFF-WHITE! We’re all like, Vern, what the eff? It was very unsettling. What’s happening with TS? Frank is going all modern-industrial and Vern is making bad decisions? What’s next, Kia doing a room I love?

Breakfast tomorrow morning at the Little Grill! Yay! That means it’s so bedtime.

Let the Sun Shine

It looks like we’ve gotten a temporary respite from the rain, which is really really nice. I got to go running last night for the first time in a while. Other things that happened yesterday: one of my cousins got married (congratulations Weldon and Kate!), I wore a suit for that (amazing, eh?), and I watched TS at Ney’s (of course).

The wedding was nice (and short, which contributed to its niceness) but then it took for-freaking-ever to get out of the church. We stood in line for like half an hour to go through the receiving line. Not my idea of fun. But Weldon and Kate were all happy and that was awww. The reception was ok… amazing food, but it’s always a bit weird being around my extended family because I’m not that close to any of them. (Not that I’m super-close to my immediate family but that’s another story). So things were a bit strange and stuff but it was ok. I left after they cut the cake because I was ready to get back home.

Man, this is a good mix. I <3 funky house music.

Maybe I’ll go running or maybe I’ll play Zelda… hmmm, decisions.
