Some of the Benefits That Stereo Can Provide
March 3rd, 2003 • Friends / Introspection / Links / Music / Site / Television
First some quick site updates. In case you haven’t noticed, there is now a little pound sign (#) next to the comments link for each entry. This links to a page that is the permanent home for the entry and the place to which you can point links. Also, thanks to some PHP magic there are no ?id=whatever thingies in the address. Yay PHP!
My project for this weekend was implementing an RSS feed for anybody who would like to be able to monitor my postings without having to visit the site all the time. Pretty spiffy.
I have finally eliminated the last vestiges of the holiday cheer design by cleaning up the cdlabels section and making it XHTML compliant.
Now on to my life (in reverse chronology, just because).
Tonight Dan Lapp came over and hung out. I love talking with Dan because not only is he a lot of fun, he’s also a deep thinker and always gets me thinking. We talked about everything from war to good salads to how each of us is doing to what kind of "snobs" we each are (he’s a coffee snob… I guess we never did get around to what kind of snob I am). For some reason talking with him has a way of leaving me feeling good about life and validated about a lot of things. ::Warm fuzzies::
Earlier in the night, Tonya and I went to dinner at the Boston Beanery. She got fish and chips and I got a yummy burger. That was definitely fun and delicious.
Before dinner, we went shopping. Unfortunately we didn’t get to the mall until after 5, and it closed at 6, so we didn’t do much. I did get two new shirts at Maurices, but that was the extent of the spoils.
Saturday night, Tonya and I had a fun time watching Trading Spaces and some other random stuff. It was good to hang out with her since we haven’t been doing that much recently (of course, in the last two days we’ve spent a lot of time together… go figure). It was also a nice escape from my introspective thinking that I’ve been doing so much of lately.
Friday night I went out to Dave’s Taverna for dinner with a bunch of people. I mostly talked with Jenni and a few other people. Toward the end, I my mind started drifting to introspective thoughts about my role in social interactions — something that has been bouncing around in my head for a while. I’ve been realizing how introverted I really am a lot of the time and how much I prefer to have individual conversations with people rather than in large groups. Groups are fun sometimes if it’s people I’m comfortable with, but often with people I don’t know I’ll end up feeling out of place unless I make a larger effort to get involved or people decide to involve me. Just some random observations there.
Now I’m going to fulfill my duty to provide you with some entertaining links. I’m not sure what to call this one since the file is just named "go" but it’s pretty funny. I think Logan sent this to me. Don’t let the bunny get you! For some other cool flash work, check out unböring from IKEA. It’s pretty sweet.
One last link… I’ve been listening to the DJ mixes from cassini d’Vision lately and most of them are pretty spot on. I especially enjoy the ones by Ross Hambrick. If you’ve got the connection to handle the downloading, I’d recommend giving them a listen (the title of this entry refrences a sample in one of the mixes).
Oooh, I just noticed that it’s 3-3-03. Coooool. And with that thought I’m off to bed so I can get up and go off to work. Happy "spring" break to EMU peeps!
